More Paris pics

yesterday was an amazing day. we arrived at 6am to have a man waiting for us to transport us to this amazing apartment. the apartment man Alan was so lovely to us; he spent an hour telling about the dos and don'ts of the place and explaining to us why the floor was soo squeeky and also so lumpy - something to do with the underground being build.  He also told us about how the shape of the apartment (massive by French standards) was a sign of the political times - that many of the rooms are double doored as it was build in the midst of a civil war and everyone was paranoid about security of what was being said!
The lift (which is not common either) is so small - now I mean really small.... like one person small - it is quite funny really.  Annie and Pauline have been showing off by using the stairs - but those of you who know me, know that I am a lift kind of girl....  Anyway the rest of yesterday went in a blur - coffee and people watching and then a hop on hop off tour..... Eiffel Tour, champs elysee, notre dame - so wonderful the buildings and architecture is just so breath taking.  We didn't hop off much - but having said that we did manage to hop off to go to an amazing macaroon store Fauchon - there we partook in obligatory macaroons. We were so long in that place that we missed the return trip on the 'yellow' line of our bus service.... Not to worry though, we took our lives in our own hands and hailed a taxi - within 15 minutes we were home again. They were really really so beautiful to look at. the cakes that is....  Then we ended the day with a meal at a small place - Patrines friends (the boys) took us.... it was lovely (I had confit of duck and creme caramel) and I don't feel one bit guilty to get to that lovely food we took three metros changed lines and climbed up and down about three million stairs.... it was terrific. I know why the french can eat the way they do.  PS Pauline and Annie both had fish and creme caramel - they said it was nice.

After some cafe and croissants - today we also went back to the hop on hop off tour -to finish our yellow line tour..... we got out at Musee d'orsay and wandered around a while (b saint germain) - we saw some lovely things - and in the end decided to get a bit lost down a small lane  - we ended up having lunch there and wandering back an hour or so later.  Pauline and Annie were not feeling super well today and I managed to get blisters the size of basketballs on the bottom of my feet (my berkies betrayed me!)
It really feels s though we have been in Paris for a long time, I'm not sure why really, it is such a large city, but with so many cafes and so many people it does feel friendly.
Tomorrow it is Patrine's birthday so we are doing boat tours down the Seine and finishing with the fireworks.... Until then....

Watch out Paris - here we come!!

At last, after a nearly 13 hour flight, all 7 of us have arrived safely in Paris. Flight it self was okay and some of us managed to get a bit of sleep.  We were all very excited to land on the French tarmac and get off at the airport.
The apartment - beyond what we thought.  A very good size for for 5 of us to stay.  2 others have an apartment elsewhere in Paris. One of the owners gave us a run down of where everything was in the apartment telling us a bit about the history behind it too.  Fascinating.
After we settled we headed downstairs (or some by lift) to take a look at what coffee shops were around  After going to the supermarket headed to one had a cafee au lait together sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine.  Yes the sun is shining and in fact it is a very warm day today.

Transit in Singapore

Pauline Annie and Carolyn had a good flight. All arrived okay - some airport hiccups - (tell ya later) some more glitches when we got to Changi. (tell ya later) all in all it was a fantastic flight and the service was amazing. Singapore is hot - no doubt this will be a theme of our blogs. All in all a good start. This time in 13 hours gay pariee

Journey about to begin

We are three friends about to embark on an adventure to see Paris, Spain, Morocco, Ireland, London and Singapore.  We are all extremely excited about our travels.

It all started on the night of our friend's husband's 60th.  It was mentioned that she should celebrate her 60th in Paris!!  Never did we really think this would happen.  However, we kept talking about the trip, planning along the way and saving madly so that we were able to earlier this book our flights and the rest just seemed to fall into place.

We will be spending 7 nights in Paris.  Exploring, relaxing, and soaking up the culture over a coffee or glass of wine and of course celebrating our dear friends 60th birthday.

After Paris we head to Malaga in Spain.  Rondo is on our list of places to visit.  We hope to go to see a few other places too.

Then we head off to Morocco on a 10 day coach tour visiting the main towns - Fez, Marrakesh, Casablanca, Rabat and Tangiers.  Weather looks a bit dodgy with high temperatures - no doubt we will survive!!!

Then it is back to Spain and off to Ireland. In Ireland a friend has kindly offered us her cottage to stay for 6 nights before we head back to London for a day.  Gwen, Pauline's sister, will be joining us.  Pauline is very excited about catching up with her.  We will all enjoy the cooler climate.

Our final stop will be Singapore.  Sentosa Island is where we will be relaxing over cocktails before we return back to Adelaide.

Keep watching this space for tales of our adventures together.

Tickets are here - whoopee we are ready to fly fly fly away!
